- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) was founded and began operation on September 1, 1962, as the College Athletic Conference (CAC). In its 47th year of operation, the SCAC is one of the oldest Division III conferences in the nation. The SCAC boasts a membership of 12 institutions from among the finest liberal arts colleges and universities in the nation.
