Super Sophomore Catie Baker Claims Women's 200 yard IM

Sophomore Catie Baker of DePauw took home her second career SCAC individual title winning the 200 yard IM in a time of 2:06.67. Her time was fast enough to qualify her for an NCAA "B" cut. Baker who won her first individual title as a freshman in the 200 yard breaststroke will have a chance to defend her crown Saturday from the Ralph Wright Natatorium on the campus of the University of Louisville.

Sophomore Kevin Martin of Trinity Captures the Men's 1-Meter

After finishing third his freshman year, sophomore Kevin Martin picked up his first ever individual diving title at the 2010 SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships winning the men's 1-meter diving competition. A Texas native, Martin scored a 448.35 good enough to finish 26 points ahead of last years champion Hunter Hayes of Centre.

Trinity's Emerick Makes it Three

For the first time in the history of the SCAC junior Hayley Emerick of Trinity University became the first ever three-time champion in the women's 3-meter diving competition. Emerick posted the third highest mark in SCAC history with a score of 479.95. The Portland, Texas native will have a chance next year to become just the second diver ever in the SCAC to win a diving event four years in a row. Nate Moch of DePauw won both the 1-meter and 3-meter men's competition from 2000-2003.

2010 SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships - Women's 3-Meter

Junior Hayley Emerick of Trinity captured her third straight SCAC 3-Meter title with an overall score of 479.45. Emerick becomes the first ever three time winner in the women's 3-meter while posting the third highest score in SCAC history. Emerick's teammate Lindsay Martin finished second posting a score of 459.30.

The first full day of competition is underway at the 2010 SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships from the Ralph Wright Natatorium on the campus of the University of Louisville. Here are a number of images from Thursday mornings prelims. Finals get started tonight at 6:30 EST.

Trinity University sophomore Kevin Martin won the men's 1-meter SCAC to lead the Tigers to an early lead after the inaugural session of the 2010 SCAC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

SCAC Women's Basketball Podcast - Week Nine

We are down to the final two weekends of SCAC regular season play and are two weeks away from the tip of the 2010 SCAC Basketball Tournament hosted by Millsaps in Jackson, Mississippi. On this weeks podcast we will bring you up to date on all of the latest SCAC standings as well as take a look ahead to this weekends conference action. SCAC Men's Basketball Podcast - Week Nine

SCAC Women's Basketball Podcast - Week Eight

Centre and DePauw both picked up a pair of road victories over the weekend defeating Austin and Colorado Colleges respectively. With the wins, both the Colonels and Tigers clinched their spots at the 2010 SCAC Basketball Tournament in Jackson, Mississippi. Centre is now riding a three game winning streak while DePauw pushed their streak to a league high 13.

Hendrix's Christina Byler was named this week's SCAC Co-POTW. Byler led the Warriors to a pair of SCAC wins this weekend averaging 20 points and 17 rebounds per contest. Byler went off in Hendrix’s 83-66 win over Sewanee on Sunday with a season high 28 points and 25 rebounds. She set a new Hendrix single-game record with 25 boards and was just three shy of tying the SCAC’s single-game mark set by Jennifer Warren of Trinity (vs. Austin on 12/7/94).

SCAC Men's Basketball Podcast - Week Eight

As the basketball season enters the final month of regular season play, the division races for spots in the 2010 SCAC Basketball Tournament are heating up. In the East, DePauw holds the top spot followed closely by Centre and Oglethorpe. In the West, only three games separates the No.1 seed Austin College(8-3 SCAC) through the No. 4 seed (Millsaps and Trinity 5-6 SCAC).

The final weekend of cross division play saw the West rebound after a losing 10 of 12 games last week. Western division teams posted a 10-2 record, highlighted by a West six game sweep of the East on Jan. 29.

Hendrix's Nick Heathscott was named this weeks SCAC POTW. Heathscott averaged 20.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two block per game while leading Hendrix to home wins over Oglethorpe and Sewanee. He shot 63 percent from the floor (17-27) and averaged 32 minutes a game in the two games. Earlier this week the conference office had a chance to catch up with Heathscott.
