SCAC Softball Tournament - DePauw vs. Southwestern


The two time defending SCAC champion DePauw Tigers opened up its quest for a third title with a 3-0 win over Southwestern University from Warrior Field on the campus of Hendrix College.

Megan Soultz was sparkling for the Tigers scattering just three hits and surrendering no walks while striking out five in a complete game seven inning performance.

Lyndsy Maus took the loss for the Pirates tonight giving up seven hits, three walks and three earned runs.

Amy Hallet of DePauw broke a scoreless game in the fourth inning after a one out triple scored off an Ashlee Anton double to put the Tigers on top 1-0.

DePauw was able to scratch to more insurance runs across in the bottom of the fifth innings in route to a 3-0 win.

With the loss Southwestern falls to 26-11 on the year and will face Rhodes tomorrow at 1 PM CST in the losers bracket from Conway High School.

DePauw improves to 31-3 on the season and extends their win streak to 19 straight. The Tigers advance to the winners bracket semi-finals and will face the winner of Millsaps and Trinity.

After the game Russell Kramer of the SCAC had a chance to catch up with both head coaches as well as DePauw senior pitcher Megan Soultz.
