2009 SCAC Football Media Days - Austin College
AustinCollege comes into the 2009 season after posting a record of 5-5 record a year ago, the best season in Sherman, Texas since 2000. Head coach Ronnie Gage enters his fourth season with a career record at AustinCollege of 13-18 (7-17).
For the third straight season AustinCollege led the SCAC in rushing offense as the ‘Roos averaged 216.7 yards826 yards and 6.3 yards per attempt and scored six touchdowns last year. He also led the SCAC in all purpose yards. The ‘Roos also return First Team All-SCAC senior cornerback Matt Finke, who tallied 41 tackles while recovering three fumbles and intercepting two passes. per game during the 2008 campaign. The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) was founded and began operation on September 1, 1962, as the College Athletic Conference (CAC). In its 47th year of operation, the SCAC is one of the oldest Division III conferences in the nation. The SCAC boasts a membership of 12 institutions from among the finest liberal arts colleges and universities in the nation. The SCAC is currently comprised of Austin College of Sherman, Texas; Birmingham-Southern College of Birmingham, Alabama; Centre College of Danville, Kentucky; Colorado College of Colorado Springs, Colorado; DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana; Hendrix College of Conway, Arkansas; Millsaps College of Jackson, Mississippi; Oglethorpe University of Atlanta, Georgia; Rhodes College of Memphis, Tennessee; The University of the South of Sewanee, Tennessee; Southwestern University of Georgetown, Texas; and Trinity University of San Antonio, Texas.
