Centre College junior Chrys Jones won the triple jump competition at the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships at DePauw University.
Jones won the triple jump to earn his second career individual national championship and 21st individual title for a SCAC student-athlete. Jones also won the event at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
He competed in the event on Saturday, March 13 along with 11 other participants. The top nine from the first round qualified for the final round. In the first round, Jones jumped 48-3 1/2, which was the third best jump going into the final round. Jones made a huge improvement in the final round as he recorded a 49-3 1/2 jump, which was barely good enough to beat senior Stephen Morton from Massachusetts Institute of Technology who jumped 49-3.
