Trinity Women Advance to SCAC Semi-Final Round After 81-60 Win Against Rhodes



The Trinity University Tigers lead by Danielle Hubenak's 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists cruised passed Rhodes College 81-60 in the opening quarterfinal match of the 2009 SCAC Women's Basketball Tournament.

The Tigers forced 13 first half turnovers with a high tempo full court pressure leading to a number of easy bucket opportunities. At the half the score was Trinity 33 Rhodes 24.

Trinity was able to dominate the boards in the second half 23-12 allowing for a number of second chance points out scoring Rhodes 16-5 in that category. Krista Prato Matthews of Trinity had 14 rebounds to go along with 19 points in the winning effort.

Rhodes was paced by freshman Jenilee Pate with 12 points in a losing effort. Rhodes ends it season with an overall record of 13-13.

With the win Trinity (19-7) advances to the semifinal round tomorrow afternoon at 1pm at Grove Gymnasium and will face the winner of the DePauw Hendrix quarterfinal game this afternoon.
