2009 SCAC Softball Championships - Rhodes vs. Trinity


Seven innings were not enough to decide the second of five contests on day two from the SCAC Softball Championships in San Antonio, Texas. After seven scoreless innings in a pitchers duel between Rhodes' Sara Bowen and Trinity's Brittany Losey, Bowen stepped to the plate in the top of the eighth with the bases loaded and hit a two RBI single to break the tie. The Lynx went on to score two more runs in the top half of the inning before Bowen troughted back to the mound and closed out the game pitching eight innings of shutout softball.

Trinity was able to stir up four hits while committing two errors in the second elimination game of the day. The TU Tigers finish the season with a record of 13-22.

Rhodes advances to play Southwestern who defeated Millsaps earlier in the day. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 PM CST from Trinity University.

After the game Trinity head coach Nicole Smith along with Rhodes head coach David Hicks and winning pitcher Sara Bowen spoke with the press about today's contest.
