Southwestern Claims Third Staright SCAC Women's Golf Championship

The Southwestern University women made it three straight conference titles at the 2009 SCAC Golf Championships which concluded on Sunday at Tunica National Golf Course.
The Pirates cruised to a 72-shot win, the second-largest margin of victory in SCAC women's championships history.

Southwestern's Marisa Mauldin, a senior from Utopia, Texas, fired a a three-day total of 233 to win her third consecutive SCAC Women's Golfer of the Year honor. Mauldin becomes the second player in league history to accomplish the individual three-peat, following Sarah Gates of DePauw University who finished atop the leaderboard at the 2004, 2005 and 2006 championships.

After the third round concluded SCAC Commisoner Dwayne Hanberry spoke with SCAC Women's Golfer of the Year Marisa Mauldin as well as Southwestern head coach Dan Ruyle.
