SCAC Women's Soccer Podcast

This week on the SCAC Women's Soccer Podcast Director of Communications Russell Kramer had the chance to catch up with SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week Abby Loar of Trinity University.

Kramer also caught up with SCAC Co-Defensive Player-of-the-Week Allyson Thrall of Trinity University.

Loar scored three goals and had two assists to lead the Tiger women’s soccer team to a pair of road wins that opened up SCAC play.

Loar
had both game-winning goals for the weekend, and either scored or assisted on five of the team’s seven goals. Against Hendrix, she scored the eventual game-winner in the 18th minute, then assisted on the game’s second goal later in the first half. In the Rhodes game, she scored the first goal of the second half that put Trinity up 2-0, and later turned out to be the difference in the 2-1 win.

For the season, Loar is tied for the team lead with three goals and three assists, and a total of nine points. The weekend’s game-winners were the first of the season for Loar, who led the Tigers in scoring last year.

Thrall led a stingy Tiger defense that allowed just one goal and five shots in a pair of SCAC wins at Hendrix and Rhodes over the weekend. Thrall and the Trinity defense yielded just one shot in Friday’s shutout win over Hendrix, then went into the 90th minute before allowing a late goal against Rhodes on Sunday. For the season, the Tiger defense has posted three shutouts and given up just seven total goals.
