In the nightcap of the first day of competition at the 2009 SCAC Softball Championships #17 DePauw defeated Trinity 3-1. Winning pitcher Megan Soultz scattered just five hits allow one run (unearned) as she picked up her 21st win of the season.
Trinity's freshman pitcher Brittany Losey threw an excellent game oppisite of Soultz allowing just four hits and three run all unearned in six innings of work. With the loss Trinity falls to 13-21 on the year and will face Rhodes tomorrow in an elimination game at noon CST.
#17 DePauw improves to 24-7 on the year with tonights win and advances to the semi-final round to face Hendrix who advanced after winning two games on day one of competition.
After the game Trinity head coach Nicole Smith, DePauw head coach Bonnie Skrenta and winning pitcher Megan Soultz all spoke about tonights contest.
