Rhodes capped off its marathon day of softball with a 4-1 win against Hendrix advancing to the championship game tomorrow at 11 AM CST against DePauw.
Rhodes played solid defense all day long allowing just one run in three games today with three different starting pitchers, Sara Bowen, Chelsea Peters and Cindy Bitters. The Lynx used a three run third inning combined with seven hits and just one error to know off Hendrix tonight.
Hendrix who won two games yesterday came up short today losing to DePauw in the winners bracket semi-final before losing to Rhodes tonight. Hendrix finishes its season with a 22-20 record nine more wins than it recorded a year ago.
With the win Rhodes adds to its most wins in a season (29) in school history and will have a chance for two more tomorrow as the Lynx will have to defeat DePauw twice in order to be named 2009 SCAC Softball Champion.
After the game both head coach of Hendix Amy Weaver and David Hicks of Rhodes spoke with the media.
