Trinity pounded out 14 hits scoring 12 runs as the Tigers outlasted Millsaps 12-5 in the second contest of the 2009 SCAC Softball Championships. Early errors put Millsaps in the hole as Trinity jumped out to a 5-0 lead through three innings.The Majors responded in the third and forth innings scoring two and three runs however couldn't hold off the Tigers. The Majors, now 15-21 after the loss, will play the loser of the Southwestern vs. Hendrix second round game this afternoon.
Trinity was led this afternoon by freshman outfielder Rachel Garrett. Garret went 4-for-5 from the plate scoring three runs while adding two RBIs. The TU Tigers advance to this afternoons second round game against DePauw University at 6 PM CST.
After the game Millsaps head coach Roland Rodriguez, Trinity head coach Nicole Smith and Trinity outfielder Rachel Garrett all spoke with the media.
