In the first game of the 2009 SCAC Softball Championships hosted by Trinity University from San Antonio, Texas Hendrix defeated Rhodes 7-2. The Warriors used two three run home runs from Jaclyn Herrera and Christina Byler to clinch the victory.
Rhodes left nine runners on base and managed just six hits as Hendrix's Liz Vaughan picked up her 11th win of the season pitching seven innings while striking out three. Rhodes falls to 26-11 on the year and will play tomorrow at noon against the loser of the DePauw vs. Trinity/Millsaps game to be played later this afternoon.
Hendrix improves to 21-18 on the year and advances to the second round of the 2009 SCAC Softball Champioships against the #1 West seed Southwestern Pirates at 4 PM CST this afternoon.
After the game the SCACs Russell Kramer caught up with Rhodes head coach David Hicks, Hendrix sophomore Jaclyn Herrera and the Warriors skipper Amy Weaver.
