Centre Stage, Colonels Take First in both Men's and Women's 400 Medley Relay


For only the third time in the history of the SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships, the 400 Medley Relay was swept by one school.

As for the men, it was the second year in a row that Centre was able to take home the title. Brad Erickson, Stewart Lowery, Hunter Owen and Jimmy Tatgenhorst swam the second fastest time ever at the championships in a time of 3:27.48 just .16 off setting a new record. It was only the second time that a school has been able to repeat in the 400 medley realy at the SCAC Championships.

Tatgenhorst and the troops talked after the race just how special this win was.

On the women's side Meredith Angel, Lauren Gates, Collen Maggard and Lis Starr shatterd the previous SCAC Championships record by more than seven seconds in a time of 3:51.47. It was another first for Centre as this was the first ever 400 medley relay team that was able to capture the title.

A team who had finished in the top three in this event the previous three years had a chance to talk about what this race ment to them.
