No. One Seed Oglethorpe Advances to Semifinal Round


Oglethorpe used a 14-2 run over six minutes in the first half to take a 24-8 lead against Millsaps and never looked back. The Petrels forced 15 turnovers and held the Majors to just 29.0% (9-31) shooting in the first half and led 45-24.

Millsaps was able to handle the pressure much better in the second half with just 8 turnovers in the half outscoring Oglethorpe 32-25. The Majors cut the lead to 11 points with five minutes remaining but the Petrels made its free throws and pulled away for the 70-56 final.

Oglethorpe was paced by senior forward Tina Grace who finished the night with 21 points and 4 rebounds. Katie Kulavic who was honored at the start of the game for becoming the leagues all-time scorer added 14 points and 8 assists to just one turnover in 27 minutes of action.

Tiffany Witmore led the Majors with 12 points in a losing effort. Millsaps ends its season with a record of 10-16.

With the win Oglethorpe advances to the semifinal round and will face the winner of the final quarterfinal game of the day Colorado College vs. Centre. The Petrels improve to 23-3 on teh season.
