Southwestern's Thompson and DePauw's Boehme Cruise to 200-Yard Backstroke Victory


Southwestern's Bailey Thompson in the third fastest ever at the SCAC Championships, 2:08.26 took first in the women's 200-yard back on Saturday night. Thompson, a sophomore, finished second as a freshman last year in the 200-yard backstroke to All-American Katie Doogan became the first ever swimmer from Southwestern to win this event.

Thompson, a Garland, Texas native spoke about her swim after the race.


For the second year in a row, DuPauw junior Charlie Boehme took home the top honor in the men's 200-yard backstroke thsi year in a time of 1:54.94. Just the third person in the history of the SCAC to win this event in consecutive years will have a chacne next year to become the first ever three time winner in the 200-yard back. Boehme who jumped in the pool just after his sister Callie won the women's 1650-yard freestyle had a chacne to talk about his race just after stepping of the podium.
