Freshman Andrew Battles of Trinity Shatters SCAC 1650-Yard Freestyle Record


Andrew Battles competing in his first ever SCAC Championships meet shattered a record that had stood since 2001 set by former Trinity swimmer Ryan Van Der Kar. Battles who swam the 1650-yard free in 15:56.95 broke the previous record by over 15 seconds. A native of Colleyville, Texas, Battles became the first swimmer from Trinity to win this event since 2005.

The freshman spoke about his mile long race after cooling down in the lap pool.
