DePauw Top Tournament Host Hendrix 70-52


The three time defending SCAC champion DePauw University hit the court for the second game in the 2009 SCAC Tournament and picked up the win 70-52 of Hendrix College.

The Tigers pressured the ball from the start forcing eight Hendrix turnovers in the first ten minutes holding the Warriors to just three field goals in that time jumping out to a 17-5 lead.

DePauw shuffled players in and out all night and received a huge help from its bench out scoring the Warriors 36 to 11. Katie Aldrich led the Tigers off the bench with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

The Tigers were led tonight by senior Andrea Travelstead whp posted 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Christina Byler led all scorers in the contest with 21 points and 9 rebounds in the losing effort for the Warriors. With the loss Hendrix ends its season with a record of 14-12.

DePauw improves to 22-4 and advances to the semifinal game against Trinity University tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm in Grove Gymnasium on teh campus of Hendrix College.

After the game SCACs Russell Kramer caught up with Hendrix head coach Chris Hitchcock, DePauw forwards Andrea Travelstead and Katie Aldrich as well as DePauw head coach Kris Huffman.
